I've many great memories of working with George, including many trips to the Netherlands in the early 2000s and Ireland around 2005, as well as the many Edinburgh conferences. His technical knowledge, as well as his ability to bring clarity and see the 'big picture' were always welcome. In more recent times, his work with Big Issue will forever be a part of his legacy, improving the lives of many people. I remember his various retirement parties fondly, particularly his good humour and in more recent times the lunches that we had together in Surbiton. Alastair Holmes
